Biography

Qantas Socceroos
Livewire striker who holds the world record for the most goals in an international match, scoring 13 against American Samoa in 2001. This performance saw him gain overseas attention, signing with Lierse in Belgium. Quickly became a fans favourite and regular goalscorer, although he had to cope with several injuries, which hampered his international prospects. After a highly successful fourth season with Lierse, which saw him net 14 goals, decided to accept an attractive offer as Melbourne Victory's inauguarl marquee player in Australia's newly formed Hyundai A-League. He soon became one of the star attractions of the league and was the only domestic–based player to feature in the final World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay in 2005. In an effort to be part of the World Cup finals, went on loan to PSV Eindhoven, where Australian coach Guus Hiddink was also head coach. Made the 2006 World Cup finals squad, but did not feature in any games, which suprised many, given his pace and eye for goal. Was a driving force behind Melbourne Victory's winning the double in the second season of the Hyundai A-League. Made the squad for the 2007 Asian Cup finals, making just one substitute appearance. As long as he keeps banging in the goals for Melbourne Victory, there is no doubt he will be an important squad member during the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
