| Following his retirement as a player in 2009, Valkanis took no time to move into the coaching arena as he took on a role as an Assistant Coach for Adelaide United’s Youth Team. Since that time, Valkanis has moved into the Head Coach role of the Reds’ National Youth League team and also taken up a place among Adelaide United’s senior coaching staff.
