Adelaide United FC would like to announce that goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic will replace defender Jon McKain as the club’s captain effective immediately.

The move recognises both Galekovic’s ability to perform under pressure and his presence within the playing group itself. At the same time the Club respects and supports McKain as a player and person in accepting the decision in the best interests of the Club.

Galekovic wore the captain's armband in last Thursday's draw with Sydney FC due to McKain being suspended, and the keeper will assume the position on a permanent basis starting with this Friday night's match against the Wellington Phoenix.
