Biography
 
Signed with the Reds in November 2009 after being enticed to the club by then United Coach Aurelio Vidmar. The central defender has represented Australia at U-17 and U-23 level and has been involved in the 2009 and 2010 AFC Champions League campaigns, the first with the Central Coast Mariners. An ankle injury at training saw Boogaard manage just one appearance in the Reds’ first 20 games of last season, although he enjoyed a strong end to the campaign. One he recovers from off season ankle surgery he will be hoping to become a key figure in the Reds’ defence.
