It was all happening on and off the pitch. This is what got the fans talking over the weekend.

Touching moment in tunnel

There was a lovely scene captured by Fox Sports in the tunnel at Suncorp Stadium ahead of Harvey Norman Friday Night Football when Roar skipper Matt McKay and goalkeeper Michael Theo extended their best wishes to Sydney FC's Danny Vukovic.

Vukovic’s 19-month-old son Harley had undergone a lifesaving liver transplant during the week and was doing “exceptionally well” post op we're happy to report.

The Sky Blues shot-stopper went on to produce another stellar performance with another clean sheet, but the news about young Harley really capped the night off.

Quirky fixtures

A quirk in this weekend’s draw meant first played third, second played fourth, fifth played sixth, seventh played eighth and ninth played tenth. Has that ever happened before? And have we ever had a perfect fixture round of 1 v 2, 3 v 4 etc. Could be time to drop @AndyHowe-statto a line...

Midfield: Nico Martinez (Wanderers)

Another crazy Melbourne Derby

Another for @AndyHowe-statto, perhaps, but we've seen coaches sent off, but when was the last time a Hyundai A-League player was red-carded while on the bench without actually playing in the game?

Keepers take centre stage

The league is seemingly blessed with in-form goalkeepers at the moment and you only had to look at Friday night’s clash at Suncorp to get the picture.

Sydney FC’s Danny Vukovic and Roar’s Michael Theo were both in sublime form.

Keeper: Michael Theo (Roar)

The Mariners’ shot-stopper Paul Izzo was also sensational in Canberra on Sunday. Some deputies in the goalkeepers union were also given their chance to shine with the Glory’s Nick Feely chalking up a win after he replaced suspended Liam Reddy, while Adelaide’s John Hall was thrust into the action for the first time this season after Eugene Galekovic was forced to come off injured half hour in at GIO stadium.

NixLevel stadium

It didn't help them on the pitch, losing 3-1 to a vastly improved Wanderers, but fair play to Phoenix for bringing Hyundai A-League football to one of the most picturesque settings in the Hyundai A-League in Yarrow Stadium at New Plymouth, which has Mt Taranaki looking down on it.
