The independent Match Review Panel (MRP) - consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Alan Contini and Alan Davidson - convened today to consider an incident involving Jess Vanstrattan (Goalkeeping Coach, Newcastle Jets) in or around the 41st minute of Newcastle Jets FC’s Round 24 match against Melbourne Victory on Sunday, 20 March 2016.

The MRP has the authority to consider the incident as Vanstrattan was expelled from the field of play by the referee.

The MRP determined that Vanstrattan committed the offence of Use of offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures towards a match official. The MRP has proposed a sanction of four (4) matches, being the Mandatory Match Suspension plus three (3) additional matches.

Under the Hyundai A-League Disciplinary Regulations, Vanstrattan may refer the matter to the independent Disciplinary Committee for hearing and Determination of the sole question of what additional sanction should be imposed (above the Mandatory Match Suspension which must be served). Vanstrattan has until 12:00pm Tuesday, 22 March 2016 to advise whether he wishes to appeal the three (3) matches proposed by the MRP, in addition to the Mandatory Match Suspension.
