The return to fitness and form of Tom Rogic is a timely boost for the Caltex Socceroos ahead of a bumper June for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

After another eye-catching display for Celtic on Friday (AEST) – which included a goal in the 5-0 drubbing of Partick Thistle – Rogic appears to be hitting peak form at just the right time for the national team.

It’s less than three weeks until the Caltex Socceroos take on Saudi Arabia in what looms as a must-win FIFA World Cup qualifier in Adelaide.

A high-profile friendly against Brazil follows five days later before the squad heads to Russia to take part in the FIFA Confederations Cup and games against Germany, Chile and Cameroon in a fiercely-competitive Group B.

Tom Rogic found net in Celtic's big win in Scotland overnight.

So if it’s going to be a ‘Joyous June’ for the Green and Gold, it’s vitally important to have Rogic at full-throttle.

After starting the season in Scotland in sensational touch, the 24-year-old’s campaign took an unfortunate turn when he suffered an ankle injury in December.

He made good progress from the problem, only to suffer another ankle injury in training in February which required surgery.

It meant he not only missed a large chunk of Celtic’s domestic campaign, Rogic also played no part in March’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers which ended in a draw against Iraq (1-1) and a 2-0 home win over UAE.

But after almost four months on the sidelines, Rogic returned to Celtic’s first team last month and has started the last three games in the league for the unbeaten Hoops.

Tom Rogic started in Celtic's 4-1 win over St Johnstone overnight.

“The magic man is back – what a player," manager Brendon Rodgers said of Rogic on his return last month.

"I think he can grow into one of the top midfield players in Europe. That's what he can develop into – there's no doubt he's top class.

"He's a good boy too, and devoted to his profession. He's a key player."

Rogic has scored 11 goals in all competitions, helping the club secure the Scottish Premier League title with a record points haul, as well as the Scottish League Cup.

The Hoops host Hearts in the final league game of the season this weekend before they have a chance to secure a domestic treble in the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen.

It will mean Rogic will have plenty of matches under his belt when he comes into camp for the Caltex Socceroos in June.

And he’s likely to play a huge role for Postecoglou.

His creativity, skill and ability to unlock tight defences will be important not only in getting the vital three points against Saudi Arabia, but also in upstaging some of the world’s best sides at the Confederations Cup.
