Spotted by Brisbane Roar assistant coach Rado Vidosic while playing for German club Arminia Bielefeld, Besart Berisha became a Brisbane Roar player in August 2011, boosting the squad’s attacking stocks following the departure of Golden Boot winner Kosta Barbarouses. The Albanian international thrived in his maiden season in Australia, scoring 21 goals including two in the Grand Final, and winning the club's Members' Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year, Golden Boot and Gary Wilkins Player of the Year award.
