| A tireless and fearless competitor, Clare Polkinghorne has quickly cemented her place as one of the key members of the Westfield Matildas squad. Her impressive work ethic on the field and professional attitude have earmarked her as a possible future captain of the team alongside names like Collette McCallum and Brisbane Roar team mate Elise Kellond-Knight. Polkinghorne debuted in 2006 and has since gone on to represent Australia in 37 A-Internationals, netting two goals along the way. Clare was an integral member in the 2006 U20 Women's World Championships FIFA in Russia, the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup 2007 in China and most recently Australia’s success at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2010 in China. |
