| One of an exclusive crop of Australian players to have played professionally in South America, John Crawley boasts an impressive CV at both a playing and coaching level. In his playing career, Crawley spent five years with Chilean super club Colo Colo before returning to become a mainstay in the NSW Premier League for Macarthur Rams and Blacktown City.
Signed by the Mariners as a player for the inaugural Hyundai A-League season, an unfortunate injury robbed Crawley of the chance to establish himself as one of the premier keepers in the competition.
However, with a sharp eye for goalkeeping talent Crawley became the Mariners goalkeeping coach shortly after and has since nurtured the likes of Danny Vukovic, Andrew Redmayne and Mathew Ryan to success between the sticks.
