MILE Sterjovski’s status as the Club’s latest signing for the 2012/13 Hyundai A-League season was today sealed at the Central Coast Mariners Centre of Excellence.

After penning an initial one-season contract with the Mariners which also includes an option for a further year in the yellow and navy, Sterjovski spoke about his delight in joining the 2011/12 Hyundai A-League Premiers.

“I had a few offers on the table and they were all appealing in their own way, but I’ve known Arnie (Graham Arnold) for quite a while and Lawrie (McKinna) as well, and just the whole club had a good vibe around it,” Sterjovski said.

“That was the main reason why I decided to sign.”

“The squad’s [at the Mariners] a great squad and if you have a look at the last two seasons they’ve been the most consistent team. I’m really excited to be playing with the players and I can’t wait to get started.”

“We’re looking to win the Grand Final in Australia and hopefully that can happen in the next year or two.”

“I definitely want to win the A-League and I think I’ve got a very good chance at the Mariners – they’re a very consistent team.”

“It’s going to be good to have a new team in the league … A lot of people are going to want to beat Central Coast and we want to remain on top so it’s going to be an interesting league.”

Mariners boss Graham Arnold also spoke of his delight to snap up a player he believes will fit in seamlessly with the Club’s culture.

“First and foremost he’s a great guy,” Arnold said. “He’s the type of person I think will fit perfectly into the Mariners culture and within the team environment.”

“Pedigree wise and performance wise what he can do for us is something we expect will be exciting for the supporters.”

“He’s a noted goalscorer and we’ll be playing him as a number nine, more central to than where he was playing at Perth. I think that’s where his strength is,” Arnold added.
