Biography

Originally from Perth, Western Australia, Trent Sainsbury played in the Glory’s inaugural National Youth League campaign before joining the Australian Institute of Sport program. Establishing himself as an imposing central defender, Sainsbury joined the Mariners on a first team deal prior to the 2010/11 campaign, making 10 appearances throughout his rookie season. Sainsbury was included in Australia’s squad for the 2011 FIFA U20 World Cup in Colombia. Having made his debut in an intense F3 derby match against Newcastle Jets in 2010, Sainsbury understands high stakes football and is learning plenty from fellow defender Patrick Zwaanswijk at the Mariners. With his deal keeping him at the Mariners until the end of the 2013/14 season, fans can expect to see plenty more of Trent Sainsbury.
