AFTER everything that has happened recently I’ve told the players our focus has to be on the final six games of the season and that we must do everything possible to get off the bottom of the ladder.
It’s obviously something we all want to do for both the pride of the club, the fans and our individual pride as players. We’ve had chances all season to get more points from many different games and now is the time to make sure that we accumulate enough points to end the season on a brighter note.
We’ve two matches at home this week – Central Coast on Wednesday night and Melbourne Victory on Saturday. The Mariners are in red hot form at the moment and they’re breeding new weapons all the time. The same could be said for Melbourne Victory who have been playing a lot better recently.
The mentality of both teams will be that they see the matches against us as ‘must win’ games. We will play with energy and freedom and we have every chance of taking something from both matches if we continue to play positively.
Central Coast are yet to beat us this season and I think we’re the only team who they have failed to register a win against, so that’s a record we intend to keep intact.
On Saturday Victory come to town for the first time in this campaign and hopefully a lot of supporters will come out to see the match and see a true legend of the Australian game in action.
Harry Kewell is a drawcard wherever he goes and his recent form suggests he will be well worth coming to watch.
Finally, I want to thank all our fans who have stuck with us all season. Your support will be vital in helping us pick up points at home as we look to finish the campaign well, play some good football and give you plenty to cheer and be cheerful about.
