Westfield Matildas goalkeeper Melissa Barbieri will break new ground tonight when she becomes the first female sideline eye on Fox Sports' A-League coverage.

Barbieri will join Mel McLaughlin and Robbie Slater for the Melbourne Heart-Gold Coast clash, and hopes it is the start of a successful career in TV.

"I watch the game, study it. I feel I can add something to the coverage," Barbieri said.

The 31-year-old, who is recovering from an ankle reconstruction, certainly knows her stuff and will add valuable insight.
