With Manchester United coming out to Australia next year, yours truly couldn’t let the opportunity pass to get his selections for the Hyundai A-League All Stars in.

Taking on the might of Manchester’s red half will be no easy task and you can bet they won’t sit back and go for their customary 1-0 scoreline as they look to entertain their Australian fans with a stylish performance.

The A-League team will have to give as good as it gets and for that reason I think we should be as attacking as possible.

While it’s a definite possibility some local Qantas Socceroos won’t be available at the time, I have ignored that when coming up with what I believe to be a fairly attacking side.

Not really fussed on the All-Stars concept, but if it is the way then we should truly play our stars, that is, mainly marquees and imports. ADP, Heskey, Broich, Berisha, Ono, Ifill, SVD, Miller, Flores, Fred and the like. And maybe throw some of the young guns that aren't at the EAFF Cup on for the second half. Let them beat MU or at least give them a run for their money and make some international headlines.....

How blessed is the A-League with just about every A-League player getting a call up for the ALL STARS team. It's still 7 months away and the game is in the closed or off season so how fit and ready for Man United will the A-League player be in July 2013. The FFA who are underwriting the event together with Holger Osiek will need to have their thinking caps on to ensure A-League players in the fold are well prepared. You never know, a call up for A-League football columnists Cockerill, Johnson &; Iannantuono may be one to consider.

All the over 27 players in the a-league should not make the all star team because they are over the hill. Give Australian Youth a chance to shine against the best in the world. This is an opportunity to get signed by Man United. Australian and NewZealand players should only be aloud to play in the game. I want an Aussie to play for Man United !!

Forget emile heskey, he has had plenty of cracks at Man Utd already. Throw Bes up front. Smeltz would be good on the bench. Don't think Emerton has been in much form and Culina is just coming back from injury now. Thomas on the left as well.

Remember you cannot pick players that you would want playing in the East Asian tournament. People complain that the Socceroos are too weak and need fresh blood then you pick the same players you want n the national setup to play in a friendly while there is an international (Asian) tournament going on. Asian players may be picked for that as well. Pick the Socceroos side then you cant pick the same people for the friendly. Players cannot be in two places at once. Think about it with at least Emmo, Thwaite, Thompson, Rojic, Ryan ... the list goes on.

Mat Ryan, Ivan Franjic, Matt Smith, Del Piero, Tom Rogic, Tom Broich, Dario Vidosic, should all definitely play, then players like archie, heskey, berisha, nichols (if he finds form) smelts, and a variety of others wouldn't look out of place. coach should not be Ange, while he is arguably the best a-league coach, he didn't impress with rep teams, he takes time to build his style of play and he wont have that time, rado should be assistant coach, he is vry creative and good at analysing, graham arnold could be head coach, he has built unity with his side and i think would rise to the task.
