Shane Smeltz is the Hyundai A-League’s best and most prolific striker. Perth Glory’s marquee man, Smeltz is a poster boy for the competition he dominates year in, year out. Last season Smeltz scored 17 goals including 2 hat-tricks, one of those against Melbourne Heart during the Finals Series. The New Zealand international is also a star on the world stage, having scored a goal at the 2010 FIFA World Cup against defending champions Italy and in August this year, Smeltz played at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Smeltz is the complete forward, classy on the ball, devastating in front of goal and super cool under pressure. Smeltz has twice been voted the Hyundai A-League’s Johnny Warren medallist as the competitions best player.
