Biography

Adam Federici has played most of his professional career in England after moving there as a 17-year-old. The tall, powerful goalkeeper has all the attributes of a top ‘keeper and is aiming to take the Qantas Socceroos No.1 jersey permanently as soon as Mark Schwarzer retires. After signing for Wolverhampton Wanderers and going on loan to several clubs, including Bristol City and Southend United, he found a home at Reading. Having made 82 appearances for the Championship side, he’s proven himself good enough to be their first-choice keeper. Frederici made his debut against Tottenham Hotspur when Reading were in the Premiership and since then has battled his way ahead of his rivals into the No.1 jersey. His undoubted strength and shot-stopping ability make him an excellent goalkeeper and the only reason he’s yet to make more than a handful of national team appearances is the Mark Schwarzer factor.
