Biography

A former Under-17 and Under-23 Australian international, Holman earned his call up to the Qantas Socceroos after consistently finding the back of the net for his Dutch second Division side Excelsior. Holman burst onto the scene as a 17-year-old with Parramatta Power, and he was quickly snapped up by Dutch giant Feyenoord and was loaned out to Excelsior, who at the time were also in the Dutch first Division. Despite his young age, he played many first team games in that first season, although Excelsior were relegated. He stayed with the club to gain valuable first-team experience and remained one their most consistent performers in front of goal over the next three seasons. He secured a move to first Division side NEC Nijmegen and was a regular first-team member. His performances for NEC saw him move to top Dutch club AZ Alkmaar where he won a Dutch title and become a regular. Holman scored his first international goal against China in 2007, the first of hopefully many for the national team. He can play either as an attacking midfielder or striker; is strong, aggressive, very quick and a good finisher inside the penalty box. He rose to the occasion at the 2010 World Cup finals, scoring two memorable goals as Australia battled to secure qualification to the second round.
