| Tommy Oar burst onto the international scene after joining Brisbane Roar as an unproven youngster at the start of the 2008-09 season.
Growing in confidence and ability, his Hyundai A-League performances with the Roar in season 2009-10 saw him voted the NAB Rising Star award for the Best Young Player in the country.
An extraordinary six months continued as Oar was selected for his Qantas Socceroos debut against Indonesia in March 2010. He took his chance to shine, dominating down the left-wing and he was instantly catapulted into World Cup contention.
He signed a contract to join Dutch side FC Utrecht and spent two months training in Holland before being selected in the preliminary squad for the World Cup. Oar didn’t make it to South Africa but remains a key part of the Qantas Socceroos future. |
