Biography

Sydney FC created history on Wednesday 5th September by agreeing Australian football’s biggest ever deal to bring Italian superstar Alessandro Del Piero to the club. The striker is one of world football’s most recognisable faces and names, having won the World Cup, the UEFA Champions League and six Serie A titles with Italy and Juventus. In 19 seasons at Juve, Del Piero became the club’s leading goalscorer and all-time appearance maker and is regarded as a God by the Bianconeri faithful after staying with the club during their one season relegation to Serie B. As a global icon of the game Del Piero’s signing marked a major milestone in the history of the Hyundai A-League and football in Australia.
