| The Phoenix’s consummate “nice guy” off the pitch, he’s a fierce competitor on it. After starting his career at Manchester City, Greenacre went on to play football for the likes of Cardiff City, Mansfield Town and Stoke City, before joining League One club Tranmere Rovers on a free transfer in the summer of 2005. Greenacre was highly-rated by the majority of the Tranmere fans after his performances in the 2005-06 season. He is often praised for his high work-rate. On 21 April 2009 it was announced that Greenacre had signed with Wellington-based, New Zealand A-League club Wellington Phoenix on a two-year contract. He made his league debut on 9 August 2009 scoring in a losing effort to the Newcastle Jets. In 55 appearances for the Phoenix, Greenacre has scored 14 goals. |
