The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the signing of their third foreign import, with German Jerome Polenz agreeing to terms with the club for season 2012/13.
Polenz arrived in the country on Saturday and has started training with the Wanderers this week at Blacktown International Sportspark.
The 25-year-old is a Defender/Midfielder and is the Wanderers 16th official signing as they prepare for their inaugural season in the Hyundai A-League.
Prior to his arrival in Australia, Polenz has played his career in Germany with the Werder Bremen (06-07), Alemannia Aachen (07-10) and Union Berlin (10-12). The German has also represented his country at junior level in both the U19 and U20 squads.
Polenz is delighted to be a foundation player at the Wanderers and is looking forward to the opportunity to being part of an exciting squad on the field, but also one that will focus heavily on community and fan engagement across the region.
“I’m happy to be here and happy to be a Wanderer,” Polenz said. “It is a big challenge for me, I need to look at what is happening around training and I’m very excited about the upcoming season.
“The football is different in Germany, I will have to adapt to the Australian way but am looking forward to taking on the challenge,” he added.
