Biography
 
Growing up in Wakeley, Michael played his junior football with Canley Heights, Wetherill Park Westerners and Southern Districts before breaking into the National Soccer League with Marconi and Parramatta Power. Signed by the Central Coast Mariners in the inaugural Hyundai A-League season, the centre back had am outstanding year which saw him make the Grand Final, win the Mariners’ Player of the Season award and make his Socceroos debut against Bahrain on 22 February 2006. Following his strong performance Michael was selected as part of Australia’s FIFA World Cup 2006 squad and earned a contract with German club Nürnberg where he won the German Cup in 2007. Following stints with Aalborg (Denmark) and Al-Jazira (UAE), the Australian with French heritage returned to the A-League to play for Melbourne Heart in their debut season before joining Sydney FC a year later. Michael was announced as a Wanderers Foundation Player on 20 June 2012 with the local boy chosen as the club’s inaugural Captain. Michael made his Wanderers debut against the Central Coast Mariners in Round One, the third time he had appeared in a club’s first ever match, before scoring his first goal for the club against Sydney FC in Round Eleven.
