Adelaide United break Australian National Cup winning record

Adelaide United are through to the FFA Cup 2021 Quarter Finals and the Cup experts have added another record to their collection.

With their 1-0 victory over Adelaide Olympic on Sunday at VALO Football Centre, United are into the last eight of the competition for the fourth time in a row.

The three-time Winners of the FFA Cup have now extended their winning streak in the competition to 12 in a row, breaking the all-time record of consecutive wins in Australia National Cup competitions.

Adelaide's 3-1 win over Floreat Athena in the Round of 32 in September saw them equal the record, which had been held by Brisbane City FC from their 11 consecutive wins in the NSL Cup from 1977-1979.

But after 42 years, the record now belongs to Adelaide United, who are looking to win the FFA Cup for a third time in a row.

The FFA Cup Round of 16 continues this Sunday when Lions FC host Brisbane Roar at Lions Stadium, before the postponed Round of 32 fixtures in NSW, ACT and Victoria commence in early November.
