Celebrating National Volunteer Week 2021 with our football family

It  was a day of recognition on Saturday, 22 May as Football Australia and Football NSW staff joined forces on a Kissing Point FC matchday to lend a hand as part of National Volunteer Week.

With over 1 million volunteers in our game, their importance cannot be understated, especially after the tumultuous year that was 2020.

It was important for Football Australia to connect with those that ensure our game runs week in, week out across the country, from the MiniRoos all the way to Walking Football.

Over 400 MiniRoos hit the fields in the morning, with Westfield Young Matildas Head Coach Leah Blayney and three players - Hana Lowry, Leticia McKenna and Sally James - all helping run the games for the kids.

Former Socceroos captain Paul Wade was in action as part of a Walking Football activation, allowing parents and anyone attending to give it a go.

Another former Socceroo, Robbie Middleby, was also in action but in a different format, flipping snags and cooking bacon & eggs on the BBQ.

Football NSW Chairman Gilbert Lorquet and CEO Stuart Hodge were also in attendance, lending a hand alongside Northern Suburbs Football Association CEO Ed Ferguson.
