Draw date confirmed for AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022™

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have confirmed the date for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022™ draw.

The draw will take place virtually from Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, 28 October at 3pm local time (6pm AEDT).

Twelve nations - including our Commonwealth Bank Matildas - will take part in the 2022 tournament, an increase of four countries from previous editions.

There will be a total of three (3) groups of four (4) teams, with the first and second-place teams - as well as the two (2) best third-placed teams - in each group progressing to the Quarter Finals.

As hosts India will be placed in position A1, with Japan and Australia to be drawn into either B1 or C1 as the two top-seeded nations.

The second pot will consist of China PR, Thailand and Korea Republic, the third pot Philippines, Vietnam and Chinese Taipei, and the fourth pot featuring Myanmar, IR Iran and Indonesia.

The AFC Women’s Asian Cup also acts as qualifiers for the FIFA Women's World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™, with the top five (5) nations booking their spot. If Australia finishes in the top five, then the team ranked sixth will also qualify.

The draw will be available to watch live via YouTube.
