Introducing the FFA Podcast! Episode 1: The Olympic Edition

The Football Federation Australia Podcast has arrived!

Football Federation Australia (FFA) today released the first episode of a new podcast established to help keep fans of Australian football abreast of, and connected to, some of the latest news and views in the game.

The first edition of the podcast, which will be re-named over the coming weeks following feedback from the football family (you can send your ideas to media@ffa.com.au), will also act as a platform to acknowledge some of the great moments and contributors to the sport in Australia, both past and present.

Each week the FFA Podcast will be centred around a specific topic or theme to recognise and cover the many different components and areas of the game that make up Australian football.

Episode One is based around some of Australia’s recent and past history with the Olympic Games, off the back of the International Olympic Committee’s recent announcement that Tokyo 2020 will now be held in July and August 2021.

Listen to the first FFA Podcast in the player below!

Graham Arnold (from 1:58), the current Head Coach of both the Socceroos and Australia’s U-23 men’s national football team, features in the first episode. Arnold has played and coached at three Olympic Games in the past – Seoul, Athens, and Beijing.

Former Matildas striker Julie Murray (from 14:04) also features in the inaugural episode. Murray discusses her memories of Australia’s first ever appearance in the women’s football competition at the Olympics, which came on home soil at Sydney 2000.

Current Westfield Matilda Chloe Logarzo (from 23:34) also features in episode one, reflecting on her Olympic bow at Rio 2016. Logarzo will be gunning to return to the Olympic in 2021, when the Matildas tackle Tokyo.

And finally, prominent football commentator and pundit Mark Bosnich (from 27:59) shares some of his memories from Barcelona 1992. Bosnich represented the Olyroos, who made it all the way to the Bronze Medal match against Ghana, in Spain 28 years ago, with the side having sealed a famous qualification against the Netherlands in Utrecht just a few months prior.
