Kevin Muscat appointed manager of Yokohama F. Marinos

Australian coach Kevin Muscat has been appointed manager of J.League side Yokohama F. Marinos.

Just as he did with A-League side Melbourne Victory, Muscat will succeed compatriot Ange Postecoglou in the role.

Muscat, Socceroo cap #406, spent six years with Victory as a coach, winning Championships in 2015 and 2018, before most recently coaching in Europe at Belgian club Sint-Truidense V.V.

Yokohama currently sit in second place in the J.League after 20 games, and will be hoping Muscat can emulate the success of now-Celtic boss Postecoglou in helping the club secure silverware.

"I am very honoured to be the manager of Yokohama F. Marinos, one of the most successful soccer clubs in Japan," Muscat told the club's official website

"First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the club for giving me this opportunity, and I am very much looking forward to taking on new challenges in Asia's most competitive J.League.

"In order to achieve our goals, we would like to build on what former coach Ange Postecoglou has built and do our best to run powerfully this season.

"We look forward to meeting the players and staff who will work hard to accomplish something special."
