'Last ever' FFA Cup Final to be broadcast live on free to air TV via Network 10

After a season that has been severely interrupted by COVID-19, Football Australia can announce that the ‘last ever’ FFA Cup Final will be broadcast exclusively live on free to air television across the nation on Network 10 on the evening of Saturday, 5 February 2022.

Football Australia, together with broadcast partner 10 ViacomCBS, today confirmed that for the first time in the competition’s history the FFA Cup’s showpiece match will be distributed to households and viewers across the nation in a Saturday primetime slot.

The FFA Cup Final, which will kick-off at 7.45pm AEDT in either Gosford or Melbourne, will include a pre-game show on Network 10, and be simulcast on 10 Play.

During the pre-game show the new name of Australia’s national knockout football competition, which enables clubs at all levels of Australia’s football ecosystem to compete against one another, will be revealed.

This new name will signify a new era for a competition that routinely attracts over 700 participating clubs from every State and Territory across Australia.

The FFA Cup 2021 kicked off with 742 clubs, but now just three (3) clubs remain in with the chance to be crowned FFA Cup 2021 winners.

Following the Draw conducted today, the venue for the FFA Cup Final 2021 will be determined post the second Semi-Final this Saturday 29 January, between Melbourne Victory FC and Wellington Phoenix FC at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong (kick-off 5:35pm AEDT).

If Melbourne Victory are victorious, then the Final will be played at AAMI Park, Melbourne. However, if Wellington Phoenix FC win, then the Final will be played at Central Coast Stadium, Gosford. As per the FFA Cup Competition Regulations, Wellington Phoenix are unable to host an FFA Cup match.

Isuzu UTE A-League Men side Central Coast Mariners FC secured their place in the FFA Cup 2021 Final earlier this week, defeating Sydney FC 1-0 to ensure that their club will have the opportunity to play for its first piece of domestic silverware since April 2013.

Mariners

Both Central Coast Mariners FC and Melbourne Victory FC are playing to secure the final AFC Champions League 2022 slot for the Australian representatives. Wellington Phoenix FC are ineligible to qualify for the tournament due to AFC Regulations.

Starting back in February 2021, the FFA Cup would not have reached this point without the dedication of all participating clubs in what was another challenging year. This year’s Final is a representation of all the hard work and sacrifices that have been made to celebrate the football community’s perseverance throughout the pandemic.

Every match in the FFA Cup 2021 is available live and free across Australia via 10 Play.
