Football Australia maintains its strong interest in bidding for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup™ 2026 and will submit a formal and comprehensive bid to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) within the required timeline later this year.
Football Australia has also today confirmed that it will not proceed with submitting a formal bid to host the AFC Asian Cup 2023™.
An Expression of Interest (EOI) was submitted by Football Australia in July 2022, in accordance with the bidding timeline and process established by the AFC.
Following the submission of an EOI, further bidding materials were made available to enable bidding Member Associations to consider submitting a formal bid by the specified deadline of 31 August 2022.
Football Australia has since determined that it will not proceed to submit a formal bid for the AFC Asian Cup 2023TM.
