Football Australia is pleased to advise that FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ selected referee Chris Beath will whistle this Saturday’s Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s Grand Final between Melbourne City FC and Western United FC at AAMI Park in Melbourne.

Beath will oversee his third A-League Men’s Grand Final this weekend having also taken charge of the 2020 and 2021 deciders.

Beath will be assisted this Saturday night by Anton Shchetinin and Ashley Beecham – two men who, like Beath, were last week confirmed as part of FIFA’s list of match officials for this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

Daniel Elder will serve as Fourth Official, Andrej Giev as Fifth Official, while the Video Match Officials for the encounter will be led by Kris Griffiths-Jones – with support from Kate Jacewicz and Kearney Robinson – from Sydney.

Football Australia Chief Executive Officer, James Johnson, today congratulated the match officials appointed for the Isuzu UTE A-League’s showpiece fixture, which is set to take place in front of a healthy AAMI Park crowd and will be broadcast live and exclusive around the nation in primetime on Network 10 and Paramount+.

“Grand Finals are significant occasions for players, coaches, and supporters, but they also represent career highlights for some of our most elite and dedicated match officials,” Johnson said.

“The match officials that have been selected for this Saturday’s A-League Men’s Grand Final in Melbourne have worked hard this season to earn their appointments to one of the biggest fixtures on our domestic calendar. We congratulate them on their achievement and know that like both teams they will be giving their utmost on Saturday evening to play a role in a successful Grand Final,” he said.

In addition to the A-League Men’s Grand Final appointments, Football Australia has confirmed that Alex King will take charge of tonight’s friendly between the A-League All Stars and FC Barcelona in Sydney.
