Sam Kerr takes second place for #TheBest FIFA Women's Player award

Commonwealth Bank Matildas skipper Sam Kerr has been awarded second place for the #TheBest FIFA Women's Player award, becoming the first Aussie to make the top 3!

Sam Kerr, Alexia Putellas and Jennifer Hermoso made up the finalist for the prestigious award, with this year's Ballon d'Or Alexia Putellas taking first place. 

Kerr came in second with 38 points, while Jennifer Hermoso finished third with 33 points. 


This second-place finish denotes the first time Kerr has made the top 3, coming in 7th place in the 2020 award ceremony with 20 points for the Matildas number 20. 

Carli Lloyd (2016), Lieke Martens (2017), Marta (2018), Megan Rapinoe (2019) and Lucy Bronze (2020) are all previous winners of the award.
