Marnoch played for Midlothian Juniors in Scotland in his childhood, before migrating to Sydney, Australia, where he joined Hakoah.
With Hakoah, Marnoch gained a reputation as being the soundest stopper in New South Wales following World War II.
Marnoch won multiple Premierships with the club, with whom he played with through to the mid 1970s. In total, he made over 300 appearances for Hakoah.
Marnoch featured for Australia throughout its qualification campaign for the FIFA World Cup Mexico 1970.
With the green and gold, Marnoch travelled Laurenco Marques (now Maputo) in Mozambique, where he featured in all three matches against Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) alongside teammates including Ron Corry, Manfred Schaefer, Johnny Warren, Ray Baartz, and Adrian Alston.
