The Subway Young Socceroos will travel to South America as part of their FIFA U20 World Cup Chile 2025™ preparations during the June FIFA Men’s International Window.

Trevor Morgan’s squad will face Argentina in two matches, set to be played out of Buenos Aires on Friday, 6 June and Monday, 9 June (local).

The reigning AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Winners will face the age group’s most successful nation – who have secured six FIFA U20 World Cup titles in their history – at their national training facility, recently renamed in honour of Lionel Messi.

With the FIFA U20 World Cup Chile 2025™ scheduled from 27 September to 19 October 2025, this assembly will be the Subway Young Socceroos primary preparation for the age group’s showpiece event, ahead of an official tournament pre-camp in September.

It will be the second occasion that Australia has travelled to South America within the current cycle following matches with Uruguay and Chile in June 2024, in a program that has also included assemblies in China, Thailand and Saudi Arabia.

Subway Young Socceroos Head Coach, Trevor Morgan was looking forward to facing such high-quality opposition.

“This is a great opportunity for us at a really crucial time in our preparation for the World Cup in September,” Morgan said.

“The players are going to challenge themselves against one of the strongest nations in this age group, in conditions similar to what they’ll face in Chile later this year – something we felt would extremely beneficial.”

“I think the quality of opposition who are now seeking out matches against us is not only exciting, but a reward for the work and performances this group has put in across the current cycle.

“Winning the Asian Cup was a wonderful experience, which now sets a bar for us in terms of expectation – embracing that challenge as we continue to grow and develop is the focus for us.”
