Football Australia today confirmed the appointment of a new Director on the Board, Spiro Pappas.
The appointment of Mr. Pappas fills the casual vacancy created by Stefan Kamasz’s resignation as a Director in March 2022. Mr. Pappas’s appointment is until the 2022 Annual General Meeting.
Mr Pappas is an experienced Board Member and governance professional who brings over 30 years’ experience in senior leadership roles in international corporate institutional banking and finance, trade and investment, digital innovation, risk management and compliance within senior executive roles held across the globe, including in Sydney, New York, London, and Singapore.
Football Australia Chair, Chris Nikou welcomed the appointment of Mr Pappas, as someone who complements the Board’s existing skill set.
“We are delighted that Spiro has agreed to join the Board of Football Australia,” Nikou said
“He brings a unique skill set to the Board, with extensive experience within the financial services industry globally, as well as a deep understanding of technology trends, where he will add valuable input as Football Australia embarks on our digital transformation journey in the coming months and years.
“Spiro’s senior leadership experience in business are great strengths, and to boot, he also has a lifelong passion for the game of football.”
Mr. Pappas’s experience in the banking industry includes stints as NAB’s Executive General Manager for International Branches and Innovation, and as CEO Asia and Executive General Manager Corporate and Institutional Banking, as well as more than a decade fulfilling several senior roles at ABN AMRO Bank, based in London.
