Colin Bennett

Born in Australia in 1950, Colin Bennett was signed by the Brisbane Lions for the inaugural NSL season.

He made his debut as a defender, playing each season in full until 1983.

Bennett was a powerful and uncompromising player who evolved into a fine all-round defender.

In 1975, Bennett was selected for the Socceroos squad for the match against China.

Following his international debut, Bennett went on to play against the USSR, New Zealand and Israel (1977).

He also took part in the 1976 Asian tour and the 1978 World Cup qualifying campaign.

During his international career Bennett scored two goals and played 55 games for Australia, 31 of which were 'A' internationals.
