Norman Conquest

Noted goalkeeper Norman Conquest was born in 1916 and began his career as a footballer with junior club Kearsley near Aberdare, NSW. 

He moved to Wollongong, later playing for Goodyear and Leichhardt Annandale where he made a total of 319 senior appearance.

During his career, Conquest became an outstanding goalkeeper, playing 15 times for NSW before winning selection in the Australian team against South Africa in the 1947 series.

In 1950 Conquest was keeper in the national team that toured South Africa and Rhodesia.

He was also goalkeeper in the first two matches against England in 1951.

During his distinguished career Conquest played nine 'A' internationals.

Conquest passed away in 1968.
