Born in Newcastle, Roy Druery enjoyed a short playing career before switching to administration and accepting the post of treasurer with Wallsend club.
In 1927 he was elected honorary secretary-treasurer of the Australian Soccer Association, a position he held until the Federation took over in 1963.
Druery played an important role in negotiations to bring national teams to Australia, including India, South Africa, England and New Zealand, as well as leading European club teams.
He served as treasurer of the NSW Soccer Association for nine years and received the MBE in 1958 for services to sport and charity.
